Now that UFC 118 has had some time to sink in, we are faced with the reality that Edgar vs. Maynard, a fight that should be one of those midcard lightweight filler bouts that you know is going three rounds and you have to sit through in anticipation of the fights you paid to see, will be a main event title fight very soon. Collegiate wrestling has become the new BJJ, in that nobody’s really figured out a good way to break through it. Anybody who has trained in BJJ knows what to expect when wrestlers show up for class. They’re going to sit on you in side control until class is over. Occasionally, a Matt Hughes or a Brock Lesnar will come along and break up the monotony of amateur wrestling with some slams and hammerfists, but most wrestlers stick with what they know… how to be big, hairy, American winning machines.

I found two things I wanted to share today. The first is the new Joe Lauzon shirt that his friends and family wore for UFC 118. It’s available for sale now at his blog JoeLauzon.com. It’s pretty snazzy.

The second thing I wanted to share is this nice article on Jason Mayhem Miller by Ben Fowlkes over at MMAFighting.com. I generally hate reading non-news MMA pieces, but this one is a worthwhile read. Fowlkes is adept at going beyond the “current figher looks to win his upcoming fight” fluff pieces that float around the blogosphere, and this piece illustrates that talent. Great Job!

Somebody decided we needed a sequel to 2008’s MMA-themed movie Never Back Down. And they are exactly RIGHT! Never Back Down 2 will star UFC heavyweight Todd Duffee and Eddie Bravo, who will also provide some of the music for the film. OMG is right.

Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck will headline UFC 124 in Montreal on December 11.

Here’s the latest statement from @Mrs_Mir:

to set the record straight Frank and I have nothing against Tito he has been nothing but friendly when we see him
and we didnt have anything against Jenna either until she verbally attacked me at Tito and Forrest fight for cheering for our teammate
I have never said anything about her being ugly that was my followers. There is nothing that Jenna can say or do to me or my family
that would affect me. Frank and I pride ourselves in living under the radar and not in the limelight, but we appreciate his fans

And from @JennaJameson:

Mrs_Mir needs to stick to popping out kids and eating Bon Bons, and hating from afar. Baby, I’m a self made multiple millionaire. Nuff said.

And then @PatrycjaMikula (ex-girlfriend of Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia and the reason we have the “how’s tastes my pee-pee” meme) sided with Jenna by adding the following Tweets:

Jenna I love you. I love that u speak ur mind and don’t give a f%# what anyone thinks! Mrs Mir is just a hater
She’s just an ex rino Vegas stripper that didn’t accomplish nothing. Jealous biatch
