Dustin Hazelett and his stupid facial hair will probably fight Ben Saunders at UFC 96 in what should be an exciting fight given the participants’ recent performances.

Dean Lister has been released by the UFC despite a 4-2 record. Lister lost to Yushin Okami via decision at UFC 92. The word on the web is that Lister was released for being too much of a grappler and putting on slow fights. Josh Neer Arrested After High Speed Chase

UFC veteran Josh Neer was arrested in the early hours of the new year after a high speed chase in Des Moines, Iowa. Neer allegedly struck a police car while driving under the influence of alcohol. Neer led police on a high speed chase for 15 minutes before being stopped with a spike strip (that thing that blows out a perp’s tires). This is Neer’s second drunk driving arrest, so jail time is a distinct possibility. As it stands, Neer’s fight with Mac Danzig at Fight Night 17 in February is still on.

2008 Wrap-Up

Rashad Evans is still a huge douche-nozzle. He is claiming that he was falling asleep shortly before his fight with Forrest Griffin. He says that he didn’t really wake up until the end of the second round (right before he TKOed Forrest). And he wonders why fans hate him?

Chael Sonnen will be Demian Maia’s next rear nake choke victim at UFC 95 in London.  How many more fights will it take before the UFC considers Maia a title contender?

The UFC gave out over 4,000 free tickets to UFC 92.  The free tickets assured that the MGM Grand Garden Arena was packed for the broadcast.  Even with so many free tickets, UFC 92 still grossed $3.4 million.

Cage Potato has some nice year-end lists on their homepage. They listed the best fights and best overall events of the year. Since I was too busy/lazy to do a year-end list, go read theirs.

UFC 92 Bonuses

The bonuses for UFC 92 were $60,000 each. Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans were awarded fight of the night and Rampage received the knockout of the night among the field of contenders. There were no submissions, so I guess Dana pockets that $60 grand.
